Aric Almirola will continue driving in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in 2009.
Almirola shared the No. 8 Chevrolet with veteran Mark Martin in 2008. His 12 NSCS races for Dale Earnhardt Inc. were highlighted by a top-10 finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. Almirola also led his first laps in the Cup Series, with three laps led at Talladega Superspeedway.
The 2007 season was Almirola’s most historical to date, competing in both the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Joe Gibbs Racing and the NSCS for Dale Earnhardt Inc.
The Tampa, Fla. native began his racing career at the age of eight in go-karts, collecting local and state championships.
