Bio
Going fast has been a part of Jeff Burton's life for more than 30 years. As a two-time state go-kart champion growing up in Virginia, he was destined for the big time. In 1990, Burton won his first NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. He then competed in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in 1993 before becoming a full-time driver in the series and earning Rookie of the Year honors in 1994. The South Boston, Va., native has gone on to win 21 races in NASCAR's top series, his most recent coming in October 2008 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Additionally, Burton races his way to his third consecutive Chase for the Sprint Cup and finished sixth in the 2008 championship point standings. NASCAR Illustrated's 2007 Person of the Year joined Richard Childress Racing midway through the 2004 season.
