Bio

For the fourth consecutive year, Martin Truex Jr. will pilot the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and the Earnhardt Ganassi driver can’t wait to get back on the track.

Truex and the Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats team finished 15th in points for the 2008 season with three top-5 finishes and 11 top-10’s. While many drivers would be pleased with those results, the Mayetta, New Jersey native is looking to improve on those statistics during the 2009 season.

The Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats team’s successful jump to the Cup level in 2006 came as no surprise to avid NASCAR fans and members of the media. After all, Truex won the Nationwide Series championship in 2004 and 2005 after dominating the series with an impressive 12 wins, 32 top-five’s, 48 top-10 finishes and 10 pole positions.

Truex made his mark in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2007 after claiming his first pole, seven top-five finishes, 14 top-10s and his first career victory at Dover International Speedway. The win catapulted Truex and his team into the Chase, where they finished 11th in points.

Bass Pro Shops will enter their sixth year of competition with Truex, but with a relationship that goes much deeper than racing. The driver of the No. 1 car is an avid outdoorsman and deeply values his long-standing relationship with the No. 1 retailer of hunting and fishing equipment and its founder, Johnny Morris.
